Crisp, refreshing rainforest air. A hypnotic, softly flowing river, and the breathtaking natural surrounds of tropical North Queensland, Australia. All this becomes the setting for Silky Oaks Lodge, a premiere luxury lodge offering unique experiences and access to two World Heritage Sites: Daintree National Park and the Great Barrier Reef.
Nestled in the forest canopy are the stylish, well-appointed retreats – 36 luxury rainforest retreats consisting of 11 Riverhouses, 23 Treehouses, and 2 Billabong Suites – designed to provide rejuvenation and relaxation. Each boasts spacious living areas with air-conditioning, iPod dock, coffee and tea facilities, and CD player. Most have hammocks, seating areas, and daybeds on a balcony overlooking the rainforest or river.
Here, they spoil you with thoughtfully selected amenities and special services you would expect from a premier lodge. Ensuite marble baths feature a double spa bath and a separate, walk-in rain shower. Luxuriously soft towels, bathrobe, and slippers are provided in each room. In addition, king beds topped with fine linen and plump pillows allow you to get a restorative night’s sleep, so you can get ready for a wonderful adventure the next day.
The standard accommodation here is the Treehouse, which is a standalone accommodation equipped to house a maximum of three guests. These serene sanctuaries have private terraces with lush forest views and hammocks. They feature natural timber floors that deliver an elegant and homey feel, and expansive windows and glass sliding doors that bathe them in natural light. Treehouses come in three configurations–Studio, Garden, and Deluxe–and measure 47 or 49 square metres.
Equally comfort-filled and stunning are the Riverhouses. These delightful retreats are perched along the Mossman Gorge River, where its soothing sounds are among the room’s key features. A colour scheme of beiges, browns, and greens sets a restful tone, and luxuries include 47 square metres of space, Bose Wave iPod dock, and a spa bath that looks out to the rainforest.
For families or groups of friends travelling together, the Lodge Suite is the perfect accommodation. This deluxe treehouse has a floor area of 88 square metres and is configured to house 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids in a king bed and 2 single beds. An extra large balcony holds a seating area, outdoor lounge and 4-poster king size day bed. Spectacular rainforest views and comfort definitely come together in this holiday retreat for the family.
The last and grandest of Silky Oaks Lodge’s luxury accommodation, the Billabong Suite, is a commodious 75 square metres. Beautifully appointed with a calming palette and slightly darker wood undertones, it is among the Lodge’s most spacious suites. From the living area to the private terrace, the magical river views completely captivate the imagination. Inside, you can indulge in every convenience and pleasure with the flat-screen TV and DVD, iPod dock, CD player, reference library, and marble bath with rain shower and double spa bath.
Stay in any of Silky Oaks Lodge accommodation and enjoy a full gourmet breakfast, use of river canoes, mountain bikes, tennis court, and gym. Meanwhile, yoga classes and guided rainforest walks are also offered, subject to availability.
While here, reset and take pleasure in the enchanting natural beauty of the rainforest through a myriad activities and services. The Spa offers therapies that harness the power of nature by using flower and plant essences, clay, and herbal extracts. All the products used in the treatments is from Sodashi, a premium Australian brand of face and body care products.
And then, fulfill your gastronomic cravings at the Treehouse Restaurant. Overlooking the Mossman River and the Daintree Forest, the open-sided restaurant serves fresh, locally inspired meals paired with fine Australian wines in an enchanting setting. For an even more magical dining experience, reserve the Jungle Perch. This intimate space is positioned above the river and affords you with enchanting vistas of the forest. Afternoon tea can be enjoyed here from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
However, it’s hard to just stay indoors or within the Lodge’s premises when the world outside beckons. Silky Oaks offers endless options for discovering and exploring the surroundings and nearby regions. There are hiking trails from the lodge to Daintree National Park where you can enjoy a picnic or take beautiful pictures you can boast online. You can also choose to take part in these leisurely pursuits such as canoeing, river paddling or snorkelling in the Mossman, cycling to scenic trails, guided walks through the grounds and rainforest, and a swim or dreamtime walk by the river.
If you decide to journey farther, you won’t be disappointed. The wonders of nature are just waiting to be explored. Go on a diving or snorkelling expedition of the amazing Great Barrier Reef.
