How to get there: The ferry port on the island is serviced by a number of ferry routes that cross Airlie Beach, Hamilton Island Airport and the Hamilton Island Marina with as many as 23 sailings on a daily basis. Fly into either Proserpine Airport and head to Airlie Beach (approximately 25 minutes), or fly into Hamilton Island Airport. Both take approx. 30 minutes to get to Daydream Island.
Things to do: A tropical paradise, there are a ton of on- and off-island activities waiting for you at Daydream Island. You can paddleboard, kayak, and snorkel in the sapphire waters. An hour prior to departure, checking in at Fitzroy Island Resort Booking Centre at Shop 2/1 Spence Street is required. Alternatively, you can choose to save on waiting time by using Fitzroy Island Adventure’s Great Barrier Reef Tours, which also only takes 45 minutes from Cairns. You can also take your own boat as the island has public moorings and anchorage.
Things to do: There is an abundance of activities to enjoy at Fitzroy Island. If you’re looking for adventure, you can go on walking tours, go SCUBA diving, snorkelling, and kayaking. For more relaxed activities, enjoy the view through the glass bottom boat tour, go paddle boarding, or visit the marine conservation and turtle rehabilitation program at Fitzroy Island Resort. Where to eat: On-site, Fitzroy Island Resort has Pool Bar, Foxy’s Bar, and Zephyr Restaurant with the latter serving more refined meals from breakfast to dinner. We suggest booking dinner in advance as it can get quite busy during the peak season. Right on the shore, Foxy’s Bar has a casual café style menu with kids’ meals too. Feel like having a barbecue? Green Island, Queensland

How to get there: Forty-five minutes east of Cairns, Green Island can only be reached by boat or air travel. Helicopter transfers from Cairns Airport and Cairns are available upon request and will cut your waiting time.

How to get there: You can get to Long Island primarily by air, as boat transfers are severely limited to specific points of the day when the high tide comes in. The helicopter transfer from Coral Sea Marina (at Airlie Beach) or Hamilton Island takes just about 10-20 minutes. Note that guests are only allowed one medium bag or suitcase and there is a weight limit on your luggage given the primary mode of transportation getting to Long Island.
Things to do: At Long Island, you can go snorkelling, paddleboarding, and kayaking, with chances of cruising alongside green turtles. Things to do: We’d keep our eyes peeled to see the cute faces of the quokkas as soon as we get to the seaside! They’re mostly around the Thomson Bay area and are more active around the evening. Apart from meeting the smiley-faced locals though, you can go swimming, snorkelling, or visit the Wadjemup Lighthouse which will treat you to a unique view of Perth and undisturbed ocean views. If you’re up for a hike, the island has a collection of walking trails, each about 4 hours long so make sure to pack enough water, food, and sun protection. The views and potential wildlife encounters will be worth it though!
Where to eat: On-site, Pinkie’s Restaurant and Bar serves a range of locally inspired food paired with Australian wines with great views of the ocean and the Bathhurst lighthouse.
